The Hi Neighbor Club of Kingwood welcomes you to the community! Whether you have just moved to Kingwood, or if you are looking for ways to meet people, or if you have just retired and have extra time on your hands, we offer you the opportunity to meet lots of new people and enjoy social activities in the community.
Our Hi Neighbor Club was formed in 1974 by two Kingwood neighbors. Our group of women has continued to grow and we now have approximately 400 members. Our main purpose is to invite those new to the area to help you get involved with your community. The Hi Neighbor logo ( a heart and coffee cup) represent friendship and the social functions of the club. The cup represents the cup of sugar borrowed from the woman next door, the tea and conversation shared with the lonely lady down the street, the cup of hospitality offered by established club members when they invite a new guest to join them at their luncheon table, and the cup of holiday cheer lifted as our members celebrate the festive season. It also symbolizes the cup of kindness shown by our Kingwood Heartbeat Bears, giving teddy bears to traumatized children and lonely forgotten adults, as well as the overflowing cup of generosity manifested in the donations we give to a variety of community service organizations serving families in the Kingwood, Humble and Houston area.
Notices of Hi Neighbor Club events are posted on the community boards located at North Park Dr @ Woodland Hills Dr, Kingwood Dr @ Woodland Hills Dr., and on West Lake Houston Parkway traveling north from Atascocita. We have monthly luncheons (September thru May) at Kingwood Country Club, with entertainment. Attendance varies from 100 to 250 per month. We hold New Member Coffees several times during the year in a smaller setting (10 to 50 people).
Perhaps the most important part of this club is the more than 50 activity groups we have going on. It is a great way to meet people with the same interests as you -- including, but not limited to, book discussions, antiques, exercise, bridge, bunko, canasta, games, cooking, investment, golf, lunch, movies, theatre, opera, crafts, tennis, and wine tasting. We also offer numerous opportunities to volunteer to community based or faith based organizations in our area. Our Heartbeat Bear Group is a wonderful, giving, service group. And if you have an interest that doesn't yet have a group, we welcome new groups to form.
Membership in the club (which is required in order to participate in any small group) is just $20 per year (due in May 2010 for the year 2010-2011). This includes a monthly newsletter and a yearly membership directory. You are welcome to try us out, as a guest, before joining. If you have a question about Hi Neighbor, our president will be sure to get you an answer. You may also send an e-mail to
