Barbara Goodson, a dedicated, generous woman who began "Have Shears Will Travel", devotes her time, energy, and resources to serve the homeless, hospice agencies, Star of Hope, Lord of the Streets, Mission of Yahweh, Hope Adult Day Care, Church Under the Bridge, The Beacon, Family Time, Crossroads at Park Place, HAMM, Family Promise, Salvation Army, Open Door Mission, St. Joseph House and various homeless shelters that need her professional hair styling skills.
Ms. Goodson, Executive Director of a non-profit hairdressing service, was honored with a check of $504.00 from the Hi Neighbor Club-Kingwood at their recent luncheon. This check will help with the ongoing expenses of her mobile hair unit, supplies, gas for the vehicle, and other costs in keeping this amazing service viable.
Barbara and two other stylists accomplish this thoughtful, caring program within a mobile hair unit. Transforming clients gives the homeless and helpless a self-esteem boost and enhances their sense of dignity. Professional haircuts gives these individuals confidence and has also helped them in getting jobs.
Most of us take our grooming needs for granted", she says. "Clients served by "Have Shears Will Travel" do not have that luxury." Ms. Goodson's service delivers dignity, transformation and restoration to the underserved in their community. Sheltered and unsheltered homeless men, women, and children, homebound physically impaired individuals who are in hospice care, or patients rehabilitating in a hospital receive this wonderful free gift from "Have Shears Will Travel", a 501(c)(3) organization.
"Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me" Matthew 25:40 is Ms. Goodson's inspiration.
